Notifications: channels, quiet hours, digests
XomiW tells you when a task is done, needs your approval or a reminder is due. Turn on browser notifications, pick channels per type and set quiet hours.
3 min read
XomiW lets you know when a task finishes, when it needs your approval, or when a reminder is due.
See your notifications
Every notification is kept in XomiW: the web has a "Notifications" box; the app has a bell icon at the top (the red number is how many are unread). In the app, swipe a notification to mark it "Read", or tap "Read all".
Notification channels
- In-app: always on.
- Email: sent to the email you sign in with. Account security notices are always emailed.
- Browser & phone (push notifications): when XomiW has this turned on, your browser shows "Turn on notifications to know when it's done?"; click "Turn on notifications in this browser". The app asks you the same way. Push notifications in the app show one generic line only, never chat content.
- Zalo (Vietnam's most widely used messaging app): not open in the current beta.
Notifications in the phone app
- Tapping a notification opens the right screen (the chat, approval card or reminder), whether the app is closed, in the background or open. When the app is open, the notification shows as a banner at the top with "Open" and "Close" buttons.
- Quick buttons: reminder notifications have "Done" and "In 15 min"; tap and you're done, no need to open the app. Approval notifications have "Approve" and "Deny": the app opens the full approval card (recipient, content) so you can check it before your decision is sent.
- Android sorts notifications into the groups Needs approval, Reminders, Results, Team, Account and security and XomiW news (the last one is off by default). You can change the sound and priority of each group in your phone's Settings → Notifications → XomiW.
Tapped "Don't allow" by mistake?
Your phone won't let the app ask a second time. In the app, go to Account → Settings → "Notification preferences"; the "Notifications on this phone" card shows whether they are on or off. Tap "Open system settings" and turn notifications for XomiW back on. If your phone can't open that page, the app shows you the way: phone Settings → Notifications → XomiW.
Customise each type
Web: Settings → "Notification preferences". App: Account → Settings → "Notifications & privacy" group → "Notification preferences".
The "Notification types × channels" table lets you turn each channel on or off for each group: Needs you, Finished work, Reminders, Suggestions, Team, Account.
Quiet hours
Turn on "Quiet hours", choose From – To, and any days that are quiet all day. During quiet hours, push and email notifications are held and sent together when they end. There are also:
- "Urgent approvals still notify".
- "Hide details on the lock screen".
Reminders you set for a specific time still go off on time.
Digests
Instead of one notification at a time, you can choose "Daily digest at" a fixed time, or "Weekly summary (Monday 08:00)".
My browser says it is blocking notifications?
Open your browser's site settings, allow notifications for XomiW, then turn them on again.
I don't see "Approve" / "Done" on the app's notifications?
Quick buttons need a recent app version. Update the app; on iPhone, quick buttons are rolling out version by version. Tapping the notification still opens the right screen.
I don't see the prompt to turn on browser notifications?
The prompt only appears once push notifications are turned on on XomiW's side. You still get every notification in the app and by email.
